Has Benchmade stopped producing this knife. It is not in the new catalog and on line it says "no longer available". Why would they quit making such a great knife. The Presidio even has a bad ass sheath....or had....anyone know about this issue?

i am honestly not sure. I have been looking to get a mini presidio, not the ultra for a while now. I try usually buy my folders from 1 of two sites that have good prices and great customer service in my experience, and they have not seemed to replenish their stock on this models for quite some time. A while back there were posts about benchmade only selling to certain dealers and their prices going up. I am not sure if this has anything to do with your concerns or not. But I certainly hope they have not discontinued the original presidio models. Not sure if it is one of their better sellers or not but it is a great work horse of a knife. Hopefully someone else has more info. I have also had the same issue with the mini rukus. The only sites that have the model I want is much more expensive than it used to be, and I have not seen the dealers I like get any more of them lately.

I was able to find that there must be a Government contract for the fixed blade.....maybe that is why we cannot get them for now....I could be wrong tho. The Rucus is also one of my favorites. I have 2 mini's and an "auto" mini.

It will be discontinued for 2010. The 155 Fixed Presidio that is, 52x will remain in the catalog. Some dealers still have them in stock though. Same goes for Rukuses, not sure about the Mini-Auto, but both 610 and 615 are about to become history.

I was talking to a BM rep the other day in regards to what I will be stocking in 2010 and apparently these models will not be in next years catalog...

Good news is it'll make room for some cool new designs that will be coming out, cant wait to see em.

The fixed Presidio was a really cool looking knife but had some problems. 154CM normally isn't the first choice in a knife that has a 6" blade plus the knife came at a steep price (normally $150+). For $25-$50 less you could get a RAT RC-6.

The Rukus was a disappointment just because it was a personal favorite of mine but I could see why they did it. Monster folders don't normally sell that well and with Blackwood not being with BM they probably needed to phase out his designs. O well it opens up room for some other new knives, it'll be interesting to see what BM's new knives are.

Are you speaking of the fixed blade only? I could be wrong about this, but wasn't the Presidio folder new in 2009?

I purchased the 440C full-size model, which is a decent knife, not a home run though. I just started paying attention to knives about a year ago, so may be out of the loop.

The Presidio auto came out in 2002 or 2003 and the folder pretty much soon after. The Ultra is new.

I know, because i felt in love with the model since its first advertisment.:D

I just got a brand new mini auto presidio 5500 last week and there is a lot of bladeplay after some opening and closing so I'm not really happy with it.
Hopefully they can fix it or I'll have to trade it for another knife.
