What is the blade height on a Benchmade Proper? I have looked at the Benchmade site but no info, looked at other sites but I can't find anything.
I'm trying to determine if one of these could be sharpened in a Wicked Edge. Haven't had much luck with many slip joints on the Wicked Edge. Anyone have experience with that?
Thanks!

Apologies, I read blade height and thought grind angle lol because that's what people always ask about. Here:

If you're talking about the blade height setup position (low or high), it's going to be very dependent on the actual knife. The angle measurements on the Wicked Edge are a relative angle that was based on some knife "model". The only way to get a more accurate angle is to use a Digital Angle Gauge, attach it to the sharpening stone. Then rest it against a knife secured in the Wicked Edge. That's what I do for all of my knives the first time I sharpen them on the Wicked Edge.

If you're looking for an easy trick to match the original knife angle, just use a red sharpie and color the edge. Then do one stroke with the stone and you'll see how much of the sharpie you're removing. Then just adjust the angle and keep sharpening until you get rid of the red sharpie. I would also keep an Excel file or write down the height on a piece of paper for future sharpening. Makes things a lot easier.

As for your original question, a slipjoint is usually a small blade. I would position it in the highest position and go from there.

Understand about the angle, etc. From my use of the W.E. it's difficult to sharpen a "short" blade, no matter how high you set it. Example: if I try to sharpen a pen blade, the stones scrape the blade holder unless I set a steep angle. I found an S90V proper and don't have the patience for freehand sharpening anymore...
