I have seen a Benchmade tool for sharpening (ceramic & tungsten) that has other features as well, but cannot find it on the Benchmade website. It is approx. 1 1/2" polygon, about 1/4"-3/8" thick. I have done several web (Google) searches, to no avail, but saw the thing in an out-of-town show a little more than a week ago; $38.00. Anyone know what i'm talking about and/or where else it might be obtained?

It's a carbide scraper, does not really sharpen in a traditional sense. It tears metal out of the blade and you are left with an awesome burr. Save $20 more and buy a Sharpmaker.

I saw it in a video of a new s30v fixed blade. They were hyping the amazing steel to no end and then drug it through the awful sharpener. With just a few pulls, there was a pile of s30v on both of the carbides. It hogs off SO much metal and leaves a poor edge. Why would a company that makes great knives advocate or promote the use of these destructive sharpeners. I hope it comes with a disclaimer that it eats knives and poops wire edges.

Agree with RedDevil that you would be better served by a Sharpmaker or similar. If a carbide sharpener is what you are after, search here for the ERU. Better than the benchmade...

Thank you, gentlemen. That settles that for me. I had considered a Lansky but will see about the SharpMaker. Good info.
