This is a button operated liner lock. I wonder how easy it is to open, after viewing a video. I hope that opening is easy, and closing is more difficult - or it
could close on you in use.
Does anyone have one, and how is it as a one-hand opener?

I have a 480-1, and it is not hard to use one-handed. Granted, it is not as easy as many larger knives, but a lot has to do with the actual size of the knife. For something like this, a large thumbstud to make it super accessible would not make sense. The lock seems secure enough for me, and it is easy to operate.

Very easy to open one-handed. As for the strength of the lock . . . it's plenty strong for it's intended use as a gentlemen's knife for light cutting. Definitely do not use for batoning, prying, throwing.

I've handled one, and I thought the design was great. Super light, but still sturdy.
Like dead-eye said...strong enough for intended use.
A little pricey IMO.

I have a picture of it with my other two Benchmades with Bohler m390 steel. Below - top down; 581 Barrage (last spring), 755 MPR (winter '10), and 480-1 Shoki (last summer).

The Shoki is carried in it's leather sheath, which I removed the pocket clip from. It is a great 'Gent's knife' - and the 480-1, like mine, was well worth the few $ more than the store's in stock 480. The -1 comes with the m390 steel flat ground vs the regular 480's hollow ground S30V - which is really good. It also has carbon fiber scales over the Ti frame, where the 480 is G10 with winewood inserts. It really is a personal choice - some days I really like the 480, too, just not enough to have both! The NakLok has worked fine - and I have never unexpectedly opened or closed the knife. Very handy size - it often accompanies my 755 in EDC duties.

I have no trouble opening my with one hand, but the lock is very weak. Super weak.

This should be said for EVERY folding knife IMO.

To the OP, that's a nice looking knife.

I just bought one of these. The Nak-lock works very well and locks up securely with no fear of slipping at all.

There is very minor vertical bladeplay, who cares? This is a gents knife! If you want to cut cardboard at work, look elsewhere.

BTW, Benchmade must have listened to the complaints about the sheath because mine was well finished with the edges being burnished.

Overall, a very nice gent’s knife.
