I'd placed order on a couple of Benchmade 940 since mid-December, but I keep hearing stories on handle shortage or re-tooling of the factory. The reality is that I still can't get my knives.

Does anybody have similar experience? or this only happen to on-line dealers?

That's a new one on me. Did you order factory-direct? It very well could be true, though. If you want one now for considerably less, drop me an email. Shameless plug, I know, but dang it, I'm trying to buy more Sebenzas!

My local dealer, a "Master" dealer, still has not received any of the new knives. It appears that deliveries are a bit on the slow side.

Might be true, then. I've always considered Cutlery Shoppe a very reputable company.

Probably the best thing to do is to call Travis Noteboom or anyone in customer service at BM at 1-800-800-7427. They're pretty straightforward and generally nice people!

There are 940's at the local brick-and-mortar; more 940's at the local gun show. In both cases, at reasonable prices (~$115 - $120). Of course, this being Virginia, not California, that doesn't help you much, but I find it hard to believe that there's any shortage.

If you don't mind driving a few miles, and paying full retail, give Edge of the World in Brentwood a call. They had some last time I was there (first week of January).

The problem is restricted to on-line dealers. Benchmade fills orders from retail stores until every one is filled before sending the first unit to distributors. On-line dealers, who aren't allowed to buy from Benchmade directly like retail dealers have to wait to buy product from distributors. The last 940 series knife we had in stock was in December. We've cancelled about $14,000 worth of orders from customers for 940 series knives over the past 5 weeks so they could buy them from retail dealers who had them. Sorry, but that's the reality. I recommend you visit your local retail knife dealer for the Benchmade products you want. Take care.

Is there anything that BM won't do in their quest for funds, not friends?

Like I have said before......seems like Benchmade is cutting it's own profits with their rediculous policies.
They need to wake up, and realize that e commerce is not a fad, and is here to stay, and try to work with ALL dealers, not just the brick & mortar ones.

I fully support Mike Turber in his quest to obtain equity from Benchmade. Any of you who do NOT like paying retail should show your support of online knife dealers, especially to 1SKS, Bayou LaFourche,Knife Outlet and the other knife dealers who support us here.
