I've had an interest in a Mini Barrage for some time but couldn't warm up to the handles with the notches and plastic. I really like the micarta on the WARN version but not the Tanto. So when I saw this modification on the sale forum from another forum member, it was a done deal.

My suggestion is for a micarta Mini with no handle emblems and the standard Mini's 154cm DP. That would be Perfect!!

I hope it is not a deal breaker for you but the handles are G10 not micarta though they do look micarta-ish.I have had the knife in the past and I did really like the handles as well even started to warm up to the tanto shape because of the handles.Though the combination of the axis assist and the tanto led me to pass it along.

LOL, no G-10 is great.
You make a good point. I'm okay with the assist but a small knife like this one doesn't need it. g

Btw, the deal is done and the knife is in my pocket.

Here's mine, along the same lines...

I like it. I carried a mini-grip for awhile and what you have is very similar to the mini-grip but with classier scales and I like that part of it. I also like that the 581 is a classier version of the 580.

So a month has gone by and this Mini-Barrage/Warn Modification has been in my pocket the entire time. Great knife!! The D2 has really held its edge over the month with general light duty cutting jobs typical for a knife this size. No need to consider a Barrage blade replacement anytime soon.

Your guess is correct. That is a good looking knife. What was the blade steel?
154CM I believe - I'm pretty sure it's all the same parts as the standard 585 but with G10 scales instead. I've not actually held one, found the 585 at a great price and have been satisfied *shrug* Maybe someone else around here has one?
