Benchmade Skirmish: flimsy pocket clip?

The pocket clip on my Skirmish seems awfully flimsy. This is a big, beefy knife and the clip seems like it could have been made with a heavier gauge steel. It's kind of "boingy", like the boingy part of a jew's harp or something. It also clicks and clatters against the knife. Anyone else disappointed with their Skirmish clip? Anyone know where I could get a beefier replacement? I've checked some of the knife part supply places but they don't have anything matching the hole pattern.

Damn nice knife in all other respects, though!

Have STR do one of his fine low riders for it. It will last for sure! GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

I'm carrying a Skirmish right now and I've never really noticed that the clip is very flimsy. Sure it could be more heavy-duty based on the size of the knife, but I don't have any complaints with it.

the clip was one thing i did not care for on the skirmish i had, imho it was cheesy and cheap looking.

I carry mine every day and yeah the clip is not great. Thin, flimsy and a little sharp.....As for the knife I love it.

I don't understand why Benchmade skimped a little on the clips of some of the best designs they have ever turned out Skirmish, Ruckus, and my buddies Snoddy has the same clip as my 615etc.!

I got a used one and that is my opinion of the clip as well. As for STR- I seem to recall that he does not wish to work on it due to the small groove cut out for it or some such factor- still might not hurt to ask.

Actually, BM didn't skimp on the clips.

The clips are not the general purpose clips that are available from so many sources. BM designed and had made clips for these designs, which costs more.

Thanks for the all the info, fellow Skirmishers. I think the problem is that this is an extra long clip, and even if the metal gauge is the same as their shorter clips, once it gets extra long, it needs to get thicker to prevent the "boingy" factor. Don't know what to do other than have something custom made.

Boingy pocket clip update! I took a closer look at my Skirmish. The part of the clip at the bottom, where it curves in towards the knife, wasn't pressing against the knife. It was floating a tiny bit above it. Which of course, caused it to clatter against the body when I handled it. So I removed the clip and with a needle nose pliers I bent it in a little bit. Now it is snug against the side of the knife and not only does it no longer clatter, but the "boinginess" is gone as well since it is no longer floating. Thanks to all for this exercise. Sometimes you just need to think out loud to solve a problem!

I carry my mini-Skirm in the waistband every single day. No problems or dissatisfaction to report. Of course, it's not the full-size Skirm.
