Skirmish is too big, and T2 is also too big.
They are both beautiful knives and I own one of each. But they are unwieldy for regular pocket knife use due to their extra large size and lack of point control, especially the skirmish.
The T2s leaner blade, straight shape, and high grind make for a utilitarian knife good for general camp use and food preparation, (and self defense actually), while the Skirmish actually works well for clearing light vegetation and such, which is what I use mine for. It is of very thick stock with a fairly low grind and obtuse edge. I'm sure it would be a formidable weapon too.
I'm loving the easy maintenance of the S30V of both knives and have used that skirmish hard, chopping wood etc, with no ill effect.
I've had my eye on a mini skirmish for quite some time, but for every day use, it's not the most practical shape although it's a beauty.
I find that 3.5 inches of blade is too much even for most stuff I need a knife for.
3 inches of blade makes for a much more compact tool which will do all the jobs a slightly larger knife would in most instances, without the added weight and lack of point control. If you have really big hands, you might need the extra handle length of a 3.5" bladed folder.
I think you're on the right track. Both those knives are awesome and you would be happy to own either I'm sure. But I think you'd find that they would stay at home once you got yourself a smaller knife. Anyway, that's the case with me.
