I have seen this knife online and its long discontinued. How was the quality?is anyone using it and edc carry it?Is there any chance of a sprint run or something?

The old-school spike was pretty much designed for one purpose (stabbing...) only. Great for opening the mail though, the high flat ground ATS-34 blade was well made, and did cut well. Regarding similarities to the 3550, or whatever it's called now, I would get more use out of the later Pardue design. They do look like family members don't they?

I have a 1000 Spike auto and its awesome. Fastest side opening auto I've ever held! Never handled the small or large Spike liner locks though.

The Benchmade/Boguszewski 640 Mini-Spike was my very first Benchmade back in the late 90's. As Joe said it was designed with one primary function in mind, stabbing. Cutting tasks were a little difficult at times due to the straight edge with no belly. The knife was thin in the pocket and very discreet to carry. The liner lock was strong enough for every day carry tasks. These came with ATS-34 steel and it was razor sharp out of the box new. This one still holds a special place in my heart. A real piece of Benchmade history.

I disagree. The original liner lock knife is a great EDC, it's blade shape is actually that of a paring knife. I had a large one for many years, until I let my kid pick one knife from my collection for his 16th birthday...and been looking for a replacement for 12 years now.

It's a Boguzweski design. The design was copied by many Asian makers before it was discontinued.

I got a Lone Wolf Defender, which is similar, but the blade is wider. I found a small Spike at a gun show with serrations, but really wanted the larger straight edge version, changed my mind and went back for it and it was gone :( Wish they'd bring it back.

There was another benchmade similar to spike,or its another version of same knife, cant find name or pic nowAll in all beautiful knives!

I always thought the 625 Crawford Leopard looked kinda similar, as far as blade design and the aluminum handles.
