Benchmade Spikes?

I have a small collection of the Benchmade Boguszewski Spikes models 640 & 650. The smaller 640 model came in several colors but the bigger model 650 supposedly only came in 3 colors. Does anyone know the straight scoop on this great old classic model Benchmade? I was also wondering if ATS-34 was the only blade steel they ever used in them? Any other info you Benchmade fans could tell me about the Spikes would be very helpful.

It is a shame that there isn't a online museum of knives. Some place you could go and get the facts. The archives of this forum are a defacto museum. Old school, he doesn't maintain a website that I know of.

You have good taste picking the Spike to collect.

Steel Addiction has a photo of the anniversary model of the Spike with BG-42blade steel.

The auto version of the Spike, model 1,000, used G-2 for its blade.

In my experience ATS-34 was the only steel used in the production models of the 640 & 650.

I saw Phil Boguszewski at Blade in Portland, OR last year. A dealer from Washington State had a few of his pieces for sale, nothing less than $1k if I remember correctly. Knifeart has a photo of the man himself.

You could give him a buzz. His number is in the book, Lakewood, Washington. And, he is scheduled to be in Solvang in a few days. His work shows up irregularly at the g/k shows in this neck of the woods.

Thanks for the feedback OREGON. I am little surprised that I didn't get any more comments on the Benchmade Boguszewski Spikes than I got. Even at last year's BLADE show I talked to 3 guys there who all said to me that they thought the models 640 & 650 Spikes were some of Benchmades' all time greats.

I just traded one of my BM model 1000 auto spikes with the G-2 blade. I sort of regret doing it. I am finding that the Spikes are not even showing up on Ebay like they did about a year ago. I will check out some of those sites. Come on folks I know that there are more Spike fans out there than just me. Don't be bashful :D

I have two of the black handle large non auto models, and two of the small silver handle sterile models that came out in the early 1990s
