Hey y'all,

I have carried, and loved, a Benchmade folding Tanto for the last 11 years. An absolutely outstanding knife that has become a family member that my wife and son have come to see as a part of me. (no, I did not stick myself, but that is a good joke)

It has worn a little from an impressive daily general use load and although it still performs like new from a functional standpoint, it is time to get a new knife.

I researched CPM steels long ago and always wanted to go there and now I have on order a CPM S30V Crusader Forge knife. To say I'm excited is an understatement.

I'd like to hear knife lovers views and experiences with all kinds of CPM blades and Crusader Forge blades, also Strider and other top end S30V blades, both folder and fixed.

Here's a pic of the blade I think will be a dream:

Mine will be stonewashed, monochromatic.

I am old but new here, in love with knives all my life, and still have roughly nine fingers.

Nice ta meet y'all.

CF does a special HT and temper, should be the best S30V you can get. They had a vid on their site at one time of one of their blades being hammered into a steel plate and cutting a V chunk out with minimal damage to the blade.

To say I'm excited is an understatement..

Ya think? Excellent choice!

sharp patriot my crusader arrived in dec. knife was totally machined. no stamped parts. quality is fantastic, with absolute smoothness & solid lockup. incidentally welcome to the forum these are a great bunch of guys , on ocassion they get to snapping at each others heels but the important thing is the passion for knives.i have never had a querie go unanswered & they will go out of their way to help you if you are having problems.info on the knives of crusader
only knife you can throw at brick wall , pick up & op en like silk.
knife will probably outlive both of us
even older models i've handled have no looseness
if you do'nt wear bib overalls or carhartts then you will need to start because this is a heavy booger
this is no whittler, made for military or collectors will punch thru doors & metal containers
if you want to bevel to more acute angle you will need powered equipment since trip. temp. 30v is like grinding tungsten.once again welcome to forum & feel free to comment profusely.

me2 these knives were advertised in T actical Knives several yrs. back. were featured in european perodicals also. crusader & trident are same. goggle crusader forge .

Thanks for the welcomes and feedback.

It's a good point to mention weight in dense alloy tools. I have a .45 cal that's all forged and it doubles the weight of many polymer guns. The Crusader may have me singing "pants on the ground".

I found Crusader Forge by searching for "CPM T440V" steel, which is the name I learned this steel as back the late 1990's. I found Strider in those searches. I did not find many other makers/manufacturers using this steel. If y'all know of more makers using this, please post them. (I saw Boker has one and Spyderco has a couple)

I think every knife has a theme and this one is going to be my EDC, but I'm a redneck so it's gonna get a whole lot of use. Next will be a fixed blade companion to the Crusader because folders are not the strongest design, inherently. Of course, I need good excuses like this to buy more knives.
I'll post plenty of feedback on the Crusader. It is my hope that it is the finest blade obtainable, and if it isn't, I have excuse to get more knives.

My wife, is a saint.

BTW, I ordered the Crusader through Three Little Indians in NYC. Larry sounds like a good guy and he's a true Patriot which means a great deal to me. He tailored his order to Crusader to meet my requests. My knife specs are exactly what I wanted, no compromise.

More later.

sharp mine is flipper mdl. blade little over 4 in. weighs 11.4 oz.this is a heavy carry. you will probably want to bevel to more acute angle for dailey use. you can get forum member to do this if you do'nt have power equip.not possible to do by hand unless you are willing to spend many many hours.

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread - damn that is a good looking knife.

I'm all about the hard use folders.

One pound - huh?? I guess I should start saving my money and getting used to wearing suspenders.

Let us know what you think of it once you get it - it's definately on my radar screen now!!!:D
