The knife looks cool but I wonder if the two small screws on the handle are strong enough for such a supposedly sturdy and hard use knife. Also, how does it compare to 810? I am having a bit difficulty justifying the price of it. s30v with g10 on ti liners for 260 dollars while the 810-1401 with m390 (better steel) and g10 on steel liner and Axis lock (better) for 180. The ti liner alone accounts for $80 difference?

I like my Vicar. While Benchmade is mostly Axis locks, they do liner and frame locks pretty good. I own both knives you mention, and have no issues with either. Keep in mind, the steel and build are both solid as can be. Nothing wrong with S30V on the Vicar, it performs really well as Benchmade has nailed their heat treat.

Pretty much sums up my feeling's. Own and love both. They're both seriously solid knives that well serve you well. Don't see how you go wrong either way. Get the one you think you like the most. Then save and get the other one!:)

Thank both of you. I have a 810 but also want to get a vicar, a crooked river, a zt0620cf, and a ... The list goes on.

You are not alone, believe me. The knives you listed are among the favorites I have. I'm planning on getting the Crooked River too at some point. The 0620 is a really good piece too. Overall it is a good problem to have, right? :)

The Vicar is more than cool and will stand up to regular usage you throw at it. The two small screws are cosmetic to hold the green and black G10 to the liners. There is a bigger screw for the pivot and 4 more screws that hold the stop pin and back spacer onto the liner. So feel free to use your vicar in confidence. There's an old tread where another forum member disassembled his vicar, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...757-Vicar-is-going-to-be-a-customizer-s-dream

ok thanks. Just picked up a ZT 0620cf in m390 and BM vicar is on my next to buy list.
