Benchmade Volli, Saftey will not engage...

Hi new forum member and checked various websites, threads in forums, etc. but cannot find anything that addresses my specific issue. I turned my Volli into a manny a few months back. Everything was great but because I will be selling it to a buddy of mine, I wanted to install the safety back in. Everything worked fine after taking it down, putting it back together, however when I pushed up the safety for the first time, the knife still flew open! When I attempted to close it with it engaged, it closed BUT FLUNG open as if I did not reset the coils or something.

I THINK, that the saftey-spring which is housed in the back-spacer and held in place by the silver-colored pin was not installed perfectly; with the saftey "off" blade swings open and it locks perfectly as if nothing was wrong..

Any ideas or suggestions? I saw a vid that a poster here said the top of the saftey spring was supposed to wrap around the axis bar, but I could not get it to do that and seemed physically impossible.

Update: when the blade is closed, the saftey cannot be pushed up. When the knife is open, the saftey CAN b engaged but when closing it, it now simply closes about a half inch further out than it should be. It does not fling open anymore after tinkering with it.

If the Volli is like 580 and Barrage Warn, the safety should be behind the axis bar when on. IIRC, with the safety off, the axis should move under the safety. Let me pull out my 580 and check.

The gimped tab should ride over the spring and when the safety disengaged the spring should rise giving clearance to the axis lock. The clearance allows the axis lock to be pulled back and disengage. Does that help any?

Thanks but already pretty much assembled it exactly that way, haha.

With the scales removed, blade open, and all parts assembled, I can move the gimped saftey tab which indeed the spring is housed on top of Up and Down, but the spring itself feels as if there's not enough tension to counter the coil spring when pulling the axis bar to close it (safety engaged and up). The omega springs do take over and detent feels right, but the blade slightly protrudes further out than it should; saftey-tab, if disengaged (blade closed), will not budge and bumps up against the base of the blade.

If I have the safety disengaged forthwith, operation and function is immaculate. No play, dead-centered with deadly quick deployment of any BM Axis-assist I've fondled or owned in the past. (Gotta love the speed safe of kershaws tho and I'll always will)

TO SQUASHFAN: thank you for replying to my inquiry, despite the general indifference people have in reading let alone responding, to similar questions. As a longtime "ghost member" here, I genuinely understand this sentiment having felt the same on occasion when browsing here and reading posts on sharpening, generic ques, etc so I wasn't really expecting a torrent of excited posts lol.

I know it is against policy here for users of my status to create threads, and in some cases even posting topics selling/trading knives, but this being my first post and you reaching out, I will create a list of knives, 90% of which are in "like new" condition but around the $40-$60 range and ones I've never really bothered to carry. (My gift to you FREE! and a gesture to the overall community of members like you that don't flame or rub-it-in when an outsider asks a question similar to mine which I admit is dam boring lol.

You might have to pay for shipping costs and I don't know if this somehow violates the rules, in which case I may be able to pay for it depending on location and cost, if you are even interested in any of em. I'll accompany some pics with the list as well but this might take a little bit since I'm new here and never posted an image or done this before.
