I've had my Benchmade 4300 CLA for a long time and I decided to replace the blade due to being oversharpened. After a few weeks after sending it in, it finally arrived at my door. I was so excited to say the least upon pulling it from the box the knife looked absolutely normal.

I proceeded to open the knife. It fired reliably and everything was solid. I opened it for a few more times and I realized the blade shape was different than the normal CLA blade.

I then found my other CLA I had on hand and compared the two. To my surprise the two blades were completely different. The blade looked very similar to a knife I had seen before the Benchmade Cabash. And sure enough I looked up a picture of the Cabash and it was exact match sort of.

The blade I received from the warranty work was a Cabash blade that had the markings of a Benchmade CLA. I called Benchmade about the issue stating my confusion and to overall just confirm my suspicion. They asked for me to email them pictures and I did so.

The Rep. responded to email with "Oh my God, your right". I laughed so hard when I read the email.

I was told I can send it in. But I'm more curious if the steel is S30V or 154 CM. The blade is marked as 154 CM but the Cabash comes with S30V. So who knows it's not a big deal but it's just funny to me.

Both are good steels... if you like it as is, keep it and use the hell out of it. If not, send it back and get them to make it how you want.
