So if anybody here knows anything about me it's that I love cheap, decent quality knives. I finally did it, though, i got myself a high quality knife. I've looked around and the prices vary greatly (150-230). I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this particular one being "Law Enforcement/Military Elite Edition"

I am however not the original owner of this knife. I did buy it from a good friend i was in ROTC with a few years back and I am sure of it's authenticity. That is where my question about the Benchmade Warranty comes into play.

My phone broke earlier so i'll have to take pictures later but the coating on the blade is worn beautifully, the automatic spring does not work so it is manual, and there are signs of light wear on the handle but the blade has only been sharpened by myself. I'd just like to know if they would sharpen it and perhaps replace the Omega Springs as they do feel a bit weak.
Also, shipping automatic knives to civilians across state lines is illegal so I am curious if they would ship it somewhere such as a pawn shop as one would do if they purchased a firearm.

I'm am also wondering how the 154CM holds up compared to something like AUS-8 and just overall.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, guys.

Go on BM's website. They have explanations pertaining to their policy on Auto knives....

BM's 154 holds up well. Comparing it to AUS-8 isn't an easy question because it depends on who is doing the HT on the AUS-8.
I have zero complaints with any of the steels BM offers, including 440C.

Thanks for the reply. I found the blade wass a bit hard to sharpen but considering the original owner never did i suppose it was not bad for the sheer amount of use he put it through. I have high hopes for it.

If the knife has had a lot of use with no work on the edge, it can take some time to bring it back. Once it is done correctly, it really isn't a difficult steel to keep up.
Just curious, not knowing which state you live in, is it legal for you to possess an Auto ?

I live in Florida where the knife laws are pretty vague and kind of idiotic. I can own autos in my home but I can not carry an automatic knife. It is, however, completely legal to open carry any fixed blade as long as there are no city ordinances against it (there are none here).
As far as carrying folders is concerned it has to be a "Common pocket knife" with a blade length of less than four inches and upon reading a few cases in the past i've found that there are things such as extreme gimping, handle shapes such as on a Cold Steel Spartan, and other features that can exclude a knife from the "Common pocket knife" category. Spring assisted knives are technically legal but may also classify the knife as "uncommon".

At the moment it is completely manual but... due to just the nature of the Axis lock it could technically be considered a "Gravity Knife" and that is my only present concern for carrying it.

I have met a good amount of police locally and a lot of them carry Emersons, Benchmades, Spydercos, etc. So if i were to get searched for any reason it would likely just lead to a knife conversation and show and tell. It has happened before, actually. Some cops can be pretty cool.

Wow. The laws there are very vague. That's crazy... If it isn't a functioning auto, even with the Axis lock, all you would probably have to do is tighten the pivot screw a little to get around that. Of course I don't fully understand the laws there so I could be wrong.
One nice thing about living in Oregon is we can legally own, and carry an Auto knife. However, it cannot be fully concealed.

Heck, we can even send them back and forth to Benchmade with no hassles lol
