Benchmade?

I came across a knife that looks exactly like the Benchmade Blue Star(?). However it doesn't have a lanyard hole and the scales are definitely not textured G-10. It does say Elishewitz on one side and has the proper logo. On the other side though, the Benchmade butterfly symbol has Bali-Song inside. The blade is half serrated. The liners are blue. I'm not to familiar with Benchmade products because I've never owned one. I'm curious as to whether or not it's a fake.

If it is I don't really care. It was just given to me.

Thanks.

Sure sounds like a Sentinal to me. It will have blue liners, with aluminum slabs instead of g-10, and it won't hae the star trademark like the bluestar.

Dark Star has gold anodized liners/g10 scales.

Sentinel has a 2 piece scale design, if i recall correctly

Thanks. The scales are aluminum. I'm curious as to why Bali-Song is written on the inside of the benchmade butterfly symbol. It says Benchmade USA underneath.

From your description it looks like you have a "sentinal" (BM 875). This evolved to the 880 "dark star" and 885 "mini dark star" and the new 886 "blue star". The butterfly logo with the word Bali-song across the middle originated with the original Bali-song knife Co, that became Pacific Cutlery and then Benchmade as we know them today. Sometime in the mid-90's the logo was changed to the name Benchmade. BM still uses the old logo on their new production butterfly knives.
