All of Benchmade's knives are of the highest quality except ther "Red Box" line which is made in Taiwan. They are still really great knives but not as finished or made with the finest steels. The HK models are made in the US I believe and are every bit as good as "Bencmade" labeled knives. As for Elishwitz, his designs are some of my personal favorite Benchmade's. I have the full size Nimravus fixed blade and have used it extensively camping, on trout, food, wood and cardboard. The Elishwitz 690 (the fancy one with the colored titanium and "wood" inlay is practically indestructable. I gave one as a gift to a friend who is known for knife and tool abuse and misuse. He's the kind of guy who drops your new knife on a concrete floor by accident every time you show him something new. The 690 looks fancy but it takes a beating every day from my friend who moves furniture and is always cutting thick plastic, cardboard, matress bags and hitting staples in cardboard. Benchmade's Elishewitz's are as close as you can come to a real Allen Elishewitz without having to sell your kidneys and your first born child to afford one!
