HAs anyone had any of the benchmades that have the assist opening. the benchmade 913D2 looks great. anyone have one or used one?

I tried one and wound up buying the Mini-Rukus instead, as I could open it faster and with less fumbling. The assisted opening one also opened with quite an impact, which made it less secure in my hand. (Other opinions may vary.)

I have one a great knife. The benchmade Nitrous assist is the best design out there. Fires hard, won't break and doesn't need a safety.

I recently got a 912D2 and a 913D2 (first production marked). Both are very smooth and fast opening, requiring just a nudge on the thumb stud. Although they are assisted, I would compare them to automatics. They seem to open a bit "softer" than an auto like the MT UDT or MT Lightfoot I used to oun. They are also a bit quieter when opening, i.e. you don't get that "whack" of a coil spring knife. The mechanism is solid and very robust.

Very good investment - you can't go wrong with these.

i'll throw in the counter-point here. the one that i handled was stiff and reluctant to open. i found the thumbstud to be less than ideal for an AO and wish it had a flipper.
