Hey again everyone. I've decided which knife I'm going to buy from all the suggestions on my last thread. Thanks so much to everyone who suggested a good blade. I'm going to go with a Benchmade Mini-Skirmish. I like the silver blades, but I'm trying to decide if I want the black blade or not. I was wondering how the finish was on the silver blades, dull? shiny?. I have heard as of late that Benchmade's black coating is pretty bad, is this true? How easily does it whipe off? Thanks for the info.

Generally the "silver" blades are a belt satin finish or stonewashed, they are pretty shiny, but not mirror polished.

The black coating is not as tough as a boron nitride or titanium nitride coating, but is about as tough as the finish that Busse uses. It is most likely some form of epoxy coating, and will not "whipe off", but can be scratched by cutting abrasive materials. It is not a bad coating by any stretch of the imagination, just not the best.

Thanks for the reply! Now i'm looking into who has it in stock and fairly cheap with decent shipping options.

I've done very well with New Graham.
