Does benchmade run all of their D2 at the same hardness, for instance if I get a custom mini grip in D2 is it run at the same 60-62 hardness that benchmade lists their 710 at?

According to their website, it has the same hardness range on both those knives. So yes.

They do a great job, I had one of my bone collector tested, and it was 61.25 rc.

And they do an amazing job of polishing it (if it's polished that is). I had a customer send me their LE BKC and I was immediately taken with the finish. It's not easy (or even possible sometimes) to get such a high quality finish on d2.

Benchmade really is a top shelf company in my humble opinion. I'd love to see pics of your knife when you get it.

Hmm I'll give it a try, after thinking about it I think I'm leaning toward getting a 707

I like BM's D2, it has a different sound/feel to it when sharpening, like heightened rigidity.

I was cleaning a D2 blade of plant sap (very corrosive) the other day, it had been there awhile. Found a few scattered tiny pits-- I don't keep the blade as clean as I should. Matters not to me on a user, but keep that in mind-- not as resistant as BMs std stainlesses.
