Any comments, positive or negative, from dealers or owners regarding Benchmades 480 Shoki and 482 Megumi "Gentlemens" knives? With their wood or wood and CF scales both appear to be attractive and slim knives but I have not seen or handled a BM with the Nak-Lok mechanism.

ex owner of the 480, i liked mine but i didn't keep it do to size and lack of pocket clip, thats what killed it for me

I have the full carbon fiber Shoki 480-1. I have looked at the 482 and didn't like it as much. It was thicker and had more squared edges.
I shopped for a long time for a thin, light, classy, discreet folder to be carried easily in a suit. This one works very well for me and I think it is a good value. The blade is longer than I really need, at ~2.9", but that means that the handle is a decent length to hold. I have used the knife very little. I wear a suit rarely and I cut things when I am wearing a suit even more rarely. This knife comes with a cheap leather sheath with a clip, but I would have considered another model with a clip too. I just didn't want something floating loose in my pocket. Lockup of the button lock is early and good enough for a light duty knife. I have not been able to defeat the lock with moderate pressure on the spine. The lock is a little hard to disengage for closing with 1 hand. It looks to me like the M390 steel will take a patina, but I don't really know yet. I like it.
NOTE: I have heard some reports of the 480-1 coming with off-center blades. Mine came to me with an off-center blade. I sent it in to Benchmade and they quickly sent me a new knife with a perfectly centered blade.

I have a 480-1, and I like it a lot. It has a lot of blade length for the handle size. The nak-lock works fine for me.

Mine came with an off-center blade, as did the one that my father bought for himself.

My biggest challenge right now when wearing a suit is deciding which to carry - the 480-1 or the Spyderco Air.

I prefer clips, so the emissary or mini-presidio. Both come in Gold Class versions. Or they did.

I owned the 480-1 Shoki (M390/CF/Titanium liners).

It's one of the greatest regrets in selling. Miss that thing.
