don't get me wrong, bm has some great knives but why would i send it to them to resharpen when they can't get them sharp in the first place....lmao

Sharpening blades remains a manual process. An individual maker can carefully sharpen and check each blade. Any larger producer with dozens of workers making hundereds of knives at a time will ship the occational off one.

I've never had a bad Benchmade, myself, and I've lost count of how many I own. I have had them resharpen my AFCK when I happened to be in the area.

I have talked to several folks who have had BMs unacceptible out of the box, returned them, and had them promptly returned razor sharp.

I like the BM knives I own, although they are not the most carried or used of my knives.
According the BM's literature, the Lifesharp guarantee only applies to the plain, non-serrated blades or parts of the blades. I personally prefer to sharpen my own knives, or learn how to. And since the plain part of the blade is even easier to sharpen for me, I don't need the Lifesharp service.

I'm with Shawn on this. Alot of their knives are not sharp to begin with. I've also heard that when you send them back to Benchmade, they don't always come back sharper!

Ive got to agree with Shawn on this one. Nice nane by the way Shawn. I LOVE my BM's. The BM's that I own come pretty sharp out of the box. Not as sharp as I like but still pretty sharp. I can sharpen my knives sharper the BM can. I also change the edge profile to a thinner edge.

When I used to have a store people would come in with there Benchamde's asking us to send them back for sharpening. We would simply tell them to save the $5 and we sharpened them for FREE just for stopping in. Check with a local knife shop and see if they will either do the same or for only a couple bucks. Or buy a sharpener.
