Not sure what happened to thread I did yesterday but in any event I have a gift card for a specific store; great I'll go get a Spyderco, probably a Military. The stroe quit carrying Spyderco. They have Benchmark, Cold Steel, Kershaw; have some Benchmarks they have no mini-grips already have a full sized Ritter Grip; don't know Cold Steel well; Kershaws I have and mostly like; have been considering a folder, combo-blade by whoever(they also carry Buck and some others I have no use for) Any suggestions? Thanks

Do they have Zero Tolerance?

And what are you interested in?

In your place, I'd probably get a fun Cold Steel toy, such as one of their machetes, or throwing stars, or tomahawks, or any number of their lower-priced things. They make decent stuff for the money, particularly in the low price range, although I don't really feel the more expensive stuff is worth the money. The Voyagers look like decent knives, if I liked that style of lock, which I don't.

You gotta make up your own mind man. Also, you can't just list the names of 3 popular knife companies and say "which one should I go with" without giving specific traits you're interested in. All of the listed companies have dozens and dozens of options ranging from cheap to REALLY expensive.

How much is the gift card for? Blade length preference? Blade steel? Handle material? Lock type? Grind type? Opening method? Etc...

Don't just buy a knife because you have a gift card, that's a waste of a gift card. Wait until you find something you want before you spend it.

when you said spyderco military i stopped reading. you should go buy a military. no knife you mention will match the versatility of a millie. it is the best knife made for the money in my opinion. i could gush for days about it but i am very tired. go on youtube.com and start watching reviews. dont bother watching nutnfancy's but you will want one after a few reviews. it is such an excellent knife!

There are too many unanswered questions to recommend any particular knife brand. All three have their pluses and minuses. Cold Steel doesn't get as much love as Benchmade and Kershaw do. Check out the Cold Steel American Lawman. I received one today and it is a bold, no b.s. knife that carries easily. It comes with very rough G-10 but I took some sandpaper to it and now it is not only smoother but "custom smooth" to my liking. I could make this my edc just as easily as my Para 2 has been.
