Does anyone have any opinions of wheather or not this knife was a good choice and will last me? It is a Benchmade mini-pika, model 10410S.

That's a nice little knife reminiscent of Benchmade's old Eclipse/Ascent series. I prefer the full sized Pika myself, but for a small inexpensive everyday carry folder, the Mini-Pika will fit the bill nicely and it should last you for quite a while. Can't go wrong with the 440C steel blade either!

I've got the plain edge version of the Mini-Pika and overall I think it's a fairly good knife. I'm not much of a fan of lockbacks, and the lock on this particular knife has been very rough for me (though it has its days where it's smooth; maybe humidity or something, or favorably little pocket lint), but I suppose a little roughness goes with the territory, being BM's Red Class and all.

That being said, when I ordered the knife, I knew it was from the Red Class and I was expecting relatively low quality, and probably a knife that would break in some way after hard use. Although I haven't yet put my knife to any hard use (I just can't help but use my Blue Class knives for my harder tasks), the Mini-Pika feels a LOT sturdier than I was expecting. The FRN handle is very rigid and solid, and gives me a lot of confidence in the knife's strength. That, combined with the very solid lockup I've always experienced with it, I feel like it should make a great knife to use in whatever conditions you see fit.

So my opinion is that yes, it is a good knife, and I think it'll last you a long time. Depending on how you like the way it carries, opens/closes, and how it feels in your hand, I think it could be a perfect knife for you. For me, I'm very glad to have it as a backup, but I probably wouldn't be satisfied with it as a primary knife. For me, there are too many Blue Class BM's that feel better in my hand open/close a lot smoother.

Heh... Sorry for being a little long-winded, especially on a small knife like the Mini-Pika...

I have one,I think it's a good, sturdy knife for the money, and after thining the edge a little, realy cuts well and holds an edge as good as any $30 knife I've owned!

IMO the MiniPika is better quality than some of BM's pricier knives. Sure has better lock up than some of the chinsy linerlocks I've seen. I have one myself and it is a nice little EDC , nice blade for SD as well , if it came to that

The Mini Pika is a great knife for EDC. I bought one for my brother a couple of years ago, and was so pleased with it that I decided to get one for myself soon after. I think you'll find that it serves you well for a long time to come.
