Just got the Bedlam and wow!....this thing is ridiculous! Beautiful! Love the size....LUM LUM....

My brother got one a few weeks ago, wicked!! Its honestly a scary looking blade. Pure awesomeness though.

I really wanted one myself. Went to get one the other day, but the plain edge manual ones seem to be gone. But the ergos are excellent on them mromeo! Didn't like the axis auto version though at all.

So the blade of the Bedlam is similar in length to that of the 710. Interesting. Anymore pics of the Bedlam next to that 710 and Rift that include the handles too?

Not at the moment. The Rift is mine, the other two are my brothers. I can a few tomorrow unless someone beats me to it.

Ask and ye shall receive.

The blade lengths are very similar with the 710 being 3.9 in and the Bedlam being 3.95 (BladeHQ's specs). My 710's tip has been blunted (probably took off about millimeter of it) and redone to about 60% of what it was before. It came with one seriously pointy tip. Easily rivaled the Para 2 and Gentleman Jim. The Bedlam's ain't no slouch though
As far as ergos go I was very surprised at how comfortable the Bedlam is considering the size and weight. Melds into your hand (and mine are fairly small). The balance point is right at the second finger grove. Flips nearly as well as the 710.
Definitely a sweet blade. Wouldn't mind a mini version though. Or a waved version. :D If you're considering one I'd recommend the manual model.

Benchwarmer380 , thanks for the nice pics. I like being able to compare the knife in question to other knives I know and own.

I have a 710 and I absolutely love it. It's my current favorite. And it's a good size knife. But that Bedlam dwarfs it. I would most definitely be interested in a Mini Bedlam with D2 , S30V or M390.

My pleasure. It is nice to see them side by side.

I wanted the Bedlam for a while but always held back because of the size. Found one for a good price and scooped it up.
For being noticeably bigger and heavier knife it carries pretty good in the pocket, the same way that the good sized 710 carries like a smaller knife. Sits snug in the corner of the pocket.

I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite out of that bunch as all have different qualities that make them unique. The 710 does get its fair share of pocket time though. Once I get the garage situated and acquire the proper tools I plan on making the 710 quite unique. Keep an eye out, it should happen within a month. If I don't jack it up.:D

Oh yeah ? Are you considering doing some mods to your 710 like holes drilled in the handle or even custom scales?

Where can you acquire custom scales for the 710 ? Are they a direct fit ?

Ya wanna know what is more beastly than the Benchmade 860 Bedlam? The Benchmade 8600 Bedlam auto-axis. Can't wait to pick one up someday.

Plan on some wood scales.

Look around here for keyman. He does amazing scale work especially with Benchmades. Check the edc thread in General and you can find examples on nearly every other page.

Perhaps.

I have handled an assited axis but never an auto axis. Wasn't impressed. Fired strong yes but at the same time it cuts the heart out of the axis lock. To me, the axis is meant to be a very strong lock with the simplest action to manipulate. Thumb stud flick to open or pull the axis and to flick open. Pull back to flick closed. Just as simple with either hand. The assistance takes away from that and I would imagine the auto does as well.

No doubt its fun or a beast just saying its probably not for me. Please do share when you get it. The more pics the better.:D

I have yet to try an auto Axis. I wonder if the auto action would eventually cause the blade to become off center (?)

I had a 3750 Adamas for a little while and agree while the auto is nice it takes away from being able to close it with out two hands due to the spring.

Keen on my bedlam for a year already, it's awesome. I removed the paint on the pocket clip and backspacer, looks much more hansome. Check this out!
