Lately Ive just been wanting to pick an integral and I was wondering why makers even choose to make an integral knife over a normal knife when it seems much much much harder to craft a integral

In my opinion, it's a way of showcasing a makers skill. It's a very very complicated method of knife making. I also think there's a certain mystique to them...I'm not really sure why. Possibly because they're something so uncommon or maybe because they (for the most part) are of such amazing quality. While an integral is stronger than a knife using screw together construction (yes, I'm sure there're exceptions) I really can't think of a single use where you would need that strength where a knife of screw together construction wouldn't perform just as well. just my take on it....~Kirby

I've got a few integral folders. Hype, my friend. Pure hype.

There is absolutely nothing that the integral offers that a folder with a backspacer does not. I can't say the same about a folder with standoffs because small items can get between the standoffs (keys, change) and get to the edge. Obviously, this would not be the case for integral or backspacer. Standoffs, backspacer, and integral will all last longer and be stronger than the weakest point on a folder, the pivot.
