Benefits of new clip style?

I know I'm doing some "catch-up" here, and you've probably addressed this ad nauseum, but what are the benefits of the new style clip? Thanks, Leo G.

Easier on the pockets and more secure. You'll find that the older straight clips shredded the tops of your jeans and also had a tendency to work its way up and possibly out. The new style clips "Hold" onto the lip of pants making the knife more secure. Also the ware doesn't occur as much or as fast.

Keep in mind that the new knives that come with the new clip havd no relief cut under the clip. My thought was that if you put a new clip on an old knife you would have a combination of a clip that sits further away from the knife and the Ti relieved under the clip as well.

Nimrod, as I just ordered a new clip for an old knife I'm curious-would this be a bad thing and why?

Greg:
I have the new clip on three small Sebenzas that have the cutout. I have no problems. They work great on the Sebenzas with the cutout.

The new clip style seems to have more flex, accommodating better thick pants pockets, like those on corduroys, etc. The new inverted "hump" also seems to bite pockets better, creating better retention, but eating the pocket edge a little worse IMHO.

When did the new clips come out? I am asking because I just bought a small regular that is 2 months old and am wondering if it has the new clip.
thanks!!

K man, does yours look like it was bent in the middle of the clip? If it does, it's the new style clip.

It's definitely got the new-style clip. All in all, I think the new style is indeed an improvement.

Nimrod,
Please explain what you mean by relief cut under the clip. I do not understand. I have looked at old clip models and new clip models and don't see a difference. I'm not saying there isn't one I just don't see it. Help me out here. :)
Thank you,

The cut out is on the locking bar directly under the clip. It starts where the clip meets the locking bar and is a depression that measures about 1/16" deep and 3/4" long. These are on slabs that were made pre-new clip. All my left hand Sebenzas have them except for my first plain one. They continued to use the cut out slabs post new clip in order to use up the supply that they had on hand. Like I said in a previous post. The difference is quite minimal. Even with the new clip and the cut out, the knife will stay in place even when clipped to my shirt pocket. When I bend over the knife will not fall out even though the pocket is made of thin material. Initially, the cut out was added because people complained that the old clip was hard on the pants pocket. A large run of cut out slabs were made before the new clip came out. With or without the cut out, I am unable to tell the difference. Hope this helps.
