I pulled the car over again today and went into another True Value Hardware store. A regular routine of mine. Nice knife case, Schrade on top, Buck in the middle, and Case on the bottom. All of the Schrade's were Taylor.

It gets better though. I asked them to open the holding area, and it took forever to paw through about 20 keys to find the right one to open the lock.

There were USA's in there! Most of them little folders, priced with old retail stickers, not worth buying. Then I spotted two long boxes in the back, two 153UH USA Golden Spikes, not price marked. I asked how much.

After looking on three different computers to no avail the clerk finally resorted to an online Taylor price list. He didn't have any Taylors in that pattern.

I walked out with a pair of brand new Uncle Henry 153UH beauties, mint in the box with sheath and honing stone for $33.95 each. My last retail list from 2004 shows them at $69.95 suggested retail.

Thanks Stuart.

Is there really any better feeling than a find like that? When I come across something like that in a store I get gitters in my gut like Im stealing or something and like a little kid I cant wait to get home to the forum to tell you guys. Awesome find!! congrats. joel

I was tempted Bob. But I was really wanting to get out of there with those knives before someone that had a brain came up from the back of the store and spoiled my fun.

There was a big Old Timer Trapper 96OT with the tweezers and toothpick in there with no box (and of course no price). I'll probably go back and get that one.

And yes Joel, I was trying to be cool and patient, but I was glad to get out in the parking lot.

you better go back and get that 96ot or I wont be able to sleep thinking about it being all alone in that store with all of thoes cheap knock offs !!!!!!!!

What planet was that True Value on?? Nice find!
