As most of you know I recently bent (through abuse) my BK16. Dexwithers and I have exchanged some PMs and I've decided to send it his way and have him work his magic! Maybe when he's done we'll do a pass around!

This thread is for pointers, for Dex to post updates, and other stuff.

Note that the tang is visible above, and below the scales.

Dex will do a great job, I'm sure. He seems to know what he's doing. I'll definitely subscribe to this thread and try to stay updated.

Awesome. Dex you've put together some awesome ones, so I'm sure this will be great. No pressure, but seriously make it great :-)
 
Saw back spine, fully serrated edge, and coarsely jimp any part of the knife that is not sharpened. Also add a bunch of very useful holes onto the blade and couple that with some perfectly squared off handle scales. Then dura coat the whole thing lavender, add some flame stickers, and send it home! :D


All jokes aside, Dex is the king of turning a less that favorable situation with a blade around, especially a BK16 as we all have seen. Very cool, will be excited to see what comes out of this. :thumbup:
 
Good on you, Mist and Dex! Can't wait to see what you two can come up with and how it performs after its rebirth.
 
Hey, Kid, your knife looks a little crooked...

All that practice on his lemons, I'm sure Dex will do something amazing with it.
Just make sure he puts a thin enough edge on it that you aren't tempted to baton, chop, pry, spine-whack or further hard-use/abuse the thing. It's difficult to predict how the unintended kink may have weakened the steel in that area. It would be a real shame to bust it after all the work he's likely to put into it.

And get a BK2!
 
I can only imagine what Dex comes up with will be kick ass.
I'm looking forward to seeing this play out. Going to be challenging to undo all that abuse and make her hole again.;)

That would be so cool! I was thinking just factory micarta, but G-10 is really nice looking.

I was thinking Forest Green:

With Black liners.

G-10 will be more work, but you'll need to re-work either to fit the tang. And even with the liners, the price is about the same.
 
I think it needs permanent scales for sure and no matter what we use it's all gonna be about the same. Micarta, G-10, what ever. I'll epoxy s piece of tractor tire on there for you and shape it if you want. lol

And we could do what ever color combo you want. the green directly on the black might be a little dark. Maybe put a thin liner in-between the black and the forest green, like a thin neon green.

It's gonna look good what ever we decide to do. Can't wait. Just need to make a trip to get more sanding drums so I can get it going right away.

I think you may be on the something with the tire....lol

The smallest I can get G-10 in is 8"X11, enough for about 3 knives....

I've settled on Forest green, but I'm still on the fence about what color liners. OD or Jade green maybe......

The knife has been sent! It should be there the 18th, I didn't send it with scales, the ones that belonged to it were modified to fit the bent tang and I couldn't spare my 15's scales. I'll have the G-10 ordered next week.
