This is my friends knife. He sent me some pictures. Apparently the blade is bent. He described it as being tilted to one side, like it's not aligned at the pivot point. And also the blade itself is bent near the tip. Any ideas on what can be done to repair this?

Murray Carter, in his DVD on Sharpening, makes checking for straightness one of the steps in sharpening.

That being said, he will try to straighten it by applying pressure to the blade as it lays against a flat surface. He cautions that you do this at the risk of damaging or breaking the blade.

Personally, if the blade still closes easily and is not scraping the liners, I think that I would leave well enough alone.

if the knife functions then i wouldn't mess with it. now if it is binding or if it just drives your friend nuts then the best thing is to send it back to kershaw and let them take care of it. kershaws customer service is supposed to be very good. later, ahgar

If it were mine and the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty I'd send it back. They'd probably return it with a new blade. They shouldn't bend like this, IMHO.
