Bent tip?

My buddy bought a blem leek almost a year ago.
When he got it, the only thing we could find wrong was that the tip of the blade was bent away from the lock.
I recently traded him for the leek and decided to try and straighten the blade.
As frail as the blade looks, I am surprised by how strong it actually is.
It would not straighten no matter how much pressure I applied.

Anyways, here is my solution:

I shortened by 0.25 and put a little belly on it, as well as remove the lock.

NO! It is not for sale.

Thanks everyone.

Is a bent tip standard on a leek?
I have never handled one besides this, and it really looks like it has to be to avoid the lock.

Main reason for asking is because this knife came from Kershawguy, and I doubt he would ever knowingly sell a knife with a bent blade.

Blem?? I could see a bent tip on a blem as being the blem.
I too would doubt that Dave would send one out on purpose.

Good job with the re-grind. That looks pretty good.

I'm with you on the surprising toughness of the tip on the Leek. That was my biggest concern after reading various opinions on it. After getting and using one, though, it's proven to be a lot tougher than its thin tapered profile would appear.

Very nice job with the grinding skills. I actually like that blade profile more than the original! I have never really used my leeks for a whole lot, because of the "frail" look and the thinness of the blade. I'm too scared to try and cut anything besides things like cardboard!

I bent the tip of my leek, but after I practically stood on the thing I was able to get it straightened back out. It literally took approximately 300lbs just to bend that itty bitty tip. I was impressed, and so every knife I've bought since has been a kershaw/zt. I ended up giving the leek to my dad after I noticed he was carrying an old s&w junker from china.

I actually had a Leek that I purchased new from Wal-Mart (we all know the model) that actually was bent slightly towards the locking side. Instead of dealing with it, or sending it in, I simply sold it. If only I had thought of that... Great solution!
