last friday my para 3 from bento box came in,first thing i noticed was the blade would not drop free on its own, also the lock up is way late, like about 55% and it has lock stick as well, sort of strange for a solid lock pin if ask me!i have had this with my PM2's and i could always ajust this out and there blade would drop free, this is my first time ordering from the box,i put it off for a long time because of there no return policy, any one had any problem like mine!thanks guys.

I loosened my pivot like a 10th of a turn and it drops free. Lockup is later on the PM3 than the PM2. Didn't have any lock stick, try some oil on the pin and blade where the compression lock engages

Pretty much my experience too. I had to loosen the pivot a tiny bit and it's great now. The lock up on my BBS M390 is at maybe 50%, same with my Cruwear P3. My first-run S30V is about 30%. Considering the angle of the lock ramp I don't worry about it.

I can't remember which but one of my P3s had a little lock stick. It's completely gone now.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I wonder if the little later lock up has anything to do with the little ledge that they started grinding on the ramp. Both of my sprint run P3s have the CQI update and the S30V doesn't. As I mentioned, the sprints are noticeably later than the first-run knife.

Mine came perfect. I would imagine it would break in though. I am an adjuster when keeping a knife though.

took mine apart, lubed, add blue loctite and adjusted how you want. It's pretty easy on these models. I don't like the color, but resisting really hard not to get this for the awesome steel. I got the Maxamet on order.

I have the same issues. I haven’t touched the pivot at all on this one. I don’t like how both screws can be adjusted, and can never find a good balance, so I’m leaving this one alone. I’ll see what some break in does.

I got the m390 para3 a few weeks ago, had the same concerns about action as you OP, but after flicking it open aggressively for a day, working in a few drops of 10w nano oil, it's a buttery smooth free dropper with no adjustment at all! Fact I remember thinking how glad I was I didn't adjust anything because even though it came stiff it broke in just the way I wanted on it's own.
Lock stick improved, but I still notice it mildly from time to time.

I personally find that the presentation side is the one to adjust. The other one seems to usually be very hard to move. I try to only turn it just barely so it literally almost doesn't turn at all and it'll be enough to make it smooth. I mean I'm sure eventually with oil and opening it could wear in but I like my PM's to drop easy. I was really happy with the action on my PM2 Maxamet, until I realized it was so smooth because they used no loctite and the pivot screw was basically loose and coming out. I always like to at least check them now. I liked how Eric said in the new KnifeCenter video that they're going to make the knives easier to reassemble so people won't need to worry so much about taking care of their knives.

When do they stop offering the return service?I didn't take note of this policy in the past.
Since discussion about "taking knives apart" in February?
And do other dealers still permit customers to return their knives?

Spyderco offers return service and warranty. BentoBoxShop, a dealer, does not.

Have they taken this measure for years?

Yes. I remember reading their terms of service the first time and laughing.

A lot of people take it as an insult or something. Doesn't bother me, I'd rather deal directly with Spyderco than freelancers on the internet.

I think there's a lot to be learned from BBS' business model though.

Personally,I am in favour of this policy, which efficiently gets rid of some unnecessary troubles.
