Beretta 92FS with the Surefire light and mount-- 5 mags and 750 rounds. I was offered this in a trade for a gun I never shoot. I carried a Beretta in the Army-are they the exact same? It is a Beretta 92FS TYPE M9A1 9mm

If its a legit Italian-made 92 FS, I'm jealous... those things are purdy. :D

It's just a gun. My purdy one is my Dan Wesson. :D

My Pops has one of the 92's. I can't soot it as well as my Glock, or his 45, or my .357, or his .357, or .44, but it is smooth, and reliable.

I dig my 92FS. It's big and heavy, but that makes it a nice, soft shooter. While I never carry it, it makes a great range gun.

I've had a couple of 92FS's but they're over sized and I hated the slide mounted safety and LLLLOOOONNNGGGGG DA trigger pull.

IMO the 92 is outclassed by many other designs (Sig P226/8, Glock 17/19, HK USP9/USP9C, HK P2000, etc).

Only diff between the civilian 92's and the military spec models is the stop installed in case of slide fracture. The military was experiencing this on models modified to use a suppressor and had been subject to extremely high round count.
I really like the 92's. Reliable, accurate, easy shooting, but my heart belongs to the Sig's, even over my trusty 1911.

Is it worth at least $700 with the Surefire light and mount-extra mags-holster and a huge pile of ammo? It is "as new" condition.

They can cost $500+ new... The mags are probably worth $100-150 more assuming they're in working order, and with the light & holster I'd say that's easily over $700, nevermind the ammo. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I have about medium-large size hands and I find the "baseball bat" grip of the 92sf to be pretty difficult to hold onto.

i have XL hands and the grip design seems to almost force my grip to "choke up" on that pistol.
i love the 92, i usually grab one of mine when i wanna feel good about my shooting skills.

That is the difference between a 92F and a 92FS. Any FS has the enlarged pin. It's a model difference, not a civy/military thing.

I had a 96, but even after all those rounds I put through it, I can still say that a .357 revolver is my shooting iron. This thread tempts me to try 9mm though.

Maybe it will feel like a bb gun or a .22. Those small calibers seem to be dead accurate.

I once had a repeating Co2 bb pistol from Walmart when I was in my 20's. I bought the pistol, one of those "milk cartons" of bb's and 3 cases of Co2. Man, I was hitting cans just point-shooting all over the place. lol then I took it back and traded it for a cheesy paint ball gun (replica of a Tipman, was my bad).

The trick was to change those Co2 cartrages before they ran too low.

If I could trick myself to feel a 9mm was like a bb gun, I'd be set (Nato style):onthego:
