I have not heard a lot about these knives, but they were designed by Bill Harsey. There are two sizes. A small at 3.35" blade and overall length of 7.5". From the specs it seems to be a nice knife. Blade steel is S30V, liners are titanium, and the handle scales are G-10. I do remember reading somewhere that the liners are fairly thick. Blade length on the large is 4.0" with an overall length of 9.25" and a weight of 6.5 ounces. Clip is set up for tip up carry, and is switchable right to left. The large knife has an msrp of $250, but I see them on the net in the $190 to $200 range, while the small goes at $200 for the msrp, and around $150 online. Just curious if this knife is worth the cost as it's designer and materials suggest it would be. Btw, anyone know where it is manufactured? Any info would be most welcomed. Btw2, I have already ordered the large one, so this is sorta after the fact post that has been posted so that anyone who has one can make me feel good about having ordered it!!:D:thumbup:

I bought 2 and sold 1. These are of the larger knives. Wierd but you DON'T hear anything about them. Outstanding liner lock knives that are very very well built. I have always maintained that the S2K was about as nice of a prod. knife for a liner locking knife as I have seen. But the Beretta Harsey is every bit as good and maybe even better just cause its' bigger with a bit better steel used. I have carried this Beretta or a my Les Adams pretty much continuously for the past 3 months. Well actually alternated the Harsey with a Tops Firestorm. But mostly the Beretta. It is an outstanding knife in every regard. If you find one jump on it. keepem sharp

Hey Longbow, you are the one I was referring to about the info on the liners. Are both liners the same thickness? The only thing I can tell from the pictures that I don't like is the clip placement as it looks like it allows an inch or so of handle to stick out. But that is fixable...................with the help of STR!!:D:thumbup: I went ahead and bought mine from Beretta USA. If you get a chance check out the Beretta site:eek:as you might like it!;)

Just checked the Beretta site and my knife shipped out yesterday, 7-03, via UPS and will be here on Tuesday, 7-08, so I guess I'll have to be one of the first ones to give it a write up. I'm looking forward to getting this knife, and hoping it lives up to my expectations! I'll for sure be posting on it the day it arrives.:D

So UPS dropped off my Beretta Harsey folder this evening. All I can say is, impressive! Obviously I haven't had the opportunity to test it out yet, so the observations printed here will mainly deal with first impressions.

As with all knives I get, the first thing I did was to simply look it over. Checked to see if the blade was centered in the blade channel, and it was as perfectly centered as it could be. Looked over the fit/finish of the G-10 to the titanium liners, and the fit was also as good as it gets, and this includes the small cutouts on the liners that have to be on the G-10 to match it up. No gaps between the liners and G-10. I did notice that the G-10 and the clip are held on by larger than usual screws, I think these were 4-40's instead of the usual 2-56's. Pivot screw was seated well within the handle. The G-10 was the Spyderco type, for lack of a better word, grippy, let very easy on the hands, and pants!

Next step was to open it. Thumbed it open with the thumb studs/blade stops. The titanium liner came over behind the blade tangso that the left side of the liner, and left side of the blade tang were flush, leaving a little over half of the thickness of the blade tang for liner wear. A spine tap produced solid lockup with the liner staying in the original lock up position. The blade moves on bronze washers and is very smooth throughout the opening. I have tightened the pivot a little to get it where I like it to be, and though harder to open, it is still very smooth through the cycle. The pocket clip is set for tip up carry only and will requiere a little work by me to make it better suited, read that as making it set deeper in my pocket, and I think I have an idea that will work.

The blade is S30V steel and it is a spearpoint with a sharp tip. The grinds are great on both sides and are even. Edge came razor sharp, and it is flat ground from the flats down. One thing I like is that the blade tang has a little overhead ledge that prevents the liner from moving up on the blade tang. The front side of the blade is marked "Beretta" and the back side is marked "CPM-S30V"; "William W. Harsey Design"; and then a card shaped rectangle with a pine tree? and three dots over it with the word Italy underneath. This is located on the blade tang. Guessing this is the manufactures mark. Anyone familiar with this mark?

Another thing I did was to measure everything as the different sites I looked at this on had different measurenments. So these are the official measurements;

BLADE LENGTH- 4.25"
HANDLE LENGTH- 5.25"
OVERALL LENGTH- 9.50"
BLADE THICKNESS- .156"
LINER THICKNESS- .070"
WEIGHT- 6.5 OZS
TOTAL WIDTH- .557"
I didn't measure the total thickness, but will. I will say that the knife is thinner than I expected, and that makes it ride flatter in my pocket, which I like.

Like I said earlier, this is just a first observation post. So far I like what I see, and know that I certaintly got my money's worth on this purchase!!:D:thumbup:

Thanks for taking the time sharing your thoughts. Pics please if you're able, especially the liner lock-up.

Just weighing in quickly. I bought one of these folders based on cutter17's recommendation. Initial impressions are very positive. It's hard to imagine going wrong with a knife of this size and quality for under $100.00. I'd have to classify it a Best Buy!

I also bought one because of cutter17's recommendation and must say it is really one of the best buys out there.

The liners and clip are titanium , the fit and finish is superb.

Just one minor gripe, it requires a little effort to release the ball detent , but other than that it's a great knife and I thank the OP for pointing out this great knife...

This was the 2nd great tip I got here over the last couple of weeks.

Well guys I am humbled that you would buy the knife based on my recommendation. Of course I was interested in it initially due to Longbow's review of it and the emails he replied too in which I asked several questions, probably making a pest out of myself. The BH is inded a nice knife and it still has that slender look and feel to me that is certaintly beginning to grow on me. Seriously thinking about a second one!

I guess one of the reasons it's a great knife is because of the exceptional price.

Most of us have experienced the good feeling you get when you order a knife sight unseen and it's a well made tool, but when you get a good deal it's even a better experience.

I've examined every inch of the Beretta and it is definitely worth the average Internet price of $180.00. So $100 is really a great deal.

Thanks again for bringing this one to our attention.
