Some time ago Bernie Garland & I worked on a collab to produce a knife for a friend.
Bernie made a bird & trout stick tang blade, using Alabama Damascus and I handled the blade in Cross Cut Yew (and made a sheath too).
Anyway, there was a weak spot in the wood (always a problem with cross cut) and sadly the handle cracked around the waist/pommel area. It meant that I had to do a rehandle job, and I was gonna use some nice Masur Birch to do it!
Here's the before:
And the after:
And as an extra challenge (or out of sheer leatherworking laziness)....I decided to make it fit the origianl scandi sheath...even managed to maintain the 'click':
Thanks for looking folks....and I hope your weekend is a bit rosier.
