I just bought a new 10" contact wheel. I didn't want to spend the rediculous $300 or so the knife suppliers charge so I did some looking around and I found a knife maker that also makes contact wheels and sells them for alot less. He lives in South Africa and his name is Bertie Rietveld. I ordered the wheel thru Bertie's web site and it took about 3 weeks to get here. He actually makes them to order.
All I can say about his work and customer service is it is outstanding!
The wheel is perfectly balanced and runs super quiet and smooth. One of the best things about it is, it's exactly 2" wide, not 1 7/8 or 1 29/32" like the wheels I bought from Bader. That might not sound like much but when you're grinding blades and having to adjust the tracking all the time it makes a big difference. I did some grinding with the wheel today and the belt runs right on both edges so you can flip from side to side without any tracking adjustment and the plunge cuts came out perfect.
If you're in the market for a new wheel, check out Bertie's web site. Here's a link.

Thanks for a great product and excellent service Bertie!!

I just received a 14"X 2" contact wheel for my Burr King, through Tru Grit. It cost $272.15, including shipping. They had it direct shipped from CRC. Hard to beat a price like that.
You get a better price going through Tru Grit, than you can get from CRC direct.

The 10" by 2" wheel I got from Bertie, included the hub and spindle and bearings, was $143 shipping included.

I'll second Michael's post. I have two wheel's custom made by Bertie...they're 100 durometer urethane.

Really really reasonably priced and fantastic wheels :)

Why the 100 dur on the wheel, are you using it as a contact wheel for grinding or for a surface grinder?

Michael, I should clarify, I didn't mean to put my post in as a competition to your great deal. When I went back today and reread it though, it seemed like it.
I put that in there, in case someone else has the Bader blues, and wants something here in the States. Plus, to my knowledge Berties wheels don't go over 12".
Sorry if it was misleading. :D
