Besh Wedge legality?

I live in NY (NOT NYC), and I was wondering if there's any legal issues regarding Besh Wedge knives in the state? I'm guessing they aren't legal, but I'd like to be certain.

New York state has a thing about "daggers" and other double edged knives, so they might take a Besh wedge as such a thing. I'm just not sure, it's such an odd blade design that I felt it would be prudent to check.

I have a Buck folder with a Besh Wedge blade. It is more like a chisel ground tanto than anything else. No more stabby than the ordinary folder. The back edge is not sharpened.

In that case, I'll be picking one up. I like the Besh design, but I wanted to be sure before I purchased one. Thank you Esav!

The Wedge is an edge design. It can go on a slicer or an a dagger. Just be sure which you get. It is not illegal in itself but can be put on a knife you don't want to wave around in public. :)

I think the concern comes in that there is a secondary edge at the point where the two wedges come together. It's akin to trying to say the secondary edge on an american tanto style knife makes it "double edged" and thus illegal.

Given that it's NY, I wouldn't blame you for being worried, since they have a habit of interpreting laws creatively in regards to knives and other weapons.

DrFish: Yes, that's about right. I trust Esav's judgement, and he seems confident I'll be fine if I shop smart and keep my head down.

I'm thinking I'll get the Buck Bravo and sand off the finish, thanks for all the help
