So whats your favorite belt and manufacturer and why. Yea Im looking for some input here before I spend the money on new belts.

Ken

Im new to knifemaking and Im trying different belts. So far I like the 3Ms, I think they last the longest. I want to order some trizacts for finishing work but it seems everywhere I look everyones out of stock on at least one of the grits, really annoying.

I'm liking the Cubitron IIs over the Blaze belts so far, but I have pretty limited experience so take it with a grain of salt. But I Tried them on the advice of experienced makers, and they seem to be correct. I can' say for finishing belts, but I can say my yellow Jflexes dont last long at all! THey're great for sharpening after they're worn, but damn they go quick for me.

I like the 3M Cubitron and the Norton Blaze but I think that the 3M belts have a slight edge over the blaze.

Cubitron II is super. Most folks don't use them hard enough, though. You have to press hard enough and run fast enough to break the shaped grit down and expose new cutting surfaces, or they just glaze and seem to die in a few blades. These excel on larger HP machines.

967 Cubitron for me, I need to try more of the Cubitron II's

After that I use gator (trizact CF) belts, Pops Knife Supply has the best deal on both types of belts to my knowledge.

I have tried budget belts but get the most for my money with 3M.

I like the Cubitron II too. I'm sure I dont use enough pressure, but I learned that when the belt gets glazed and stops cutting I can use scrap metal and lean hard on the belt and it will refresh it.
