i need a smaller knife for EDC, blade length should be 3 inch, have a pocket clip and go for under $50

if it's USA made it would be even better

Most of Kershaw's knives are in that price range. You have choices like the Kershaw Leek, Zing, OD-1, Ener-g II, etc. All made in Tualitin, OR. :)

gosh you guys always have to remind me how expensive your knives get when they come over.
let's just say around $25 to $30. how about the kershaw LFK?

+1 Beat me to it. (Well, except the Ener-G II. I assume you meant the Ener-G I, since the II is the large one.)

As for the revised price range of $25-30, if you look around a bit, you can find a Zing or Leek for $30 or less. Both have significantly better steel than the LFK (14C28N vs. AUS-6).

strictly speaking, the Kershaw Storm is the best USA made folder under $50. But if you can spend another 5-10, and I recommend you do--you can get the superb Kershaw Ram. Just make sure to check it out in person or have a trusted dealer give it a close lookover...they have a lot of minor fit and finish problems.

Kershaw Volt II is nice, though it is a bit thick for EDC. I tend to not care since I weigh a buck thirty and my pants end up having plenty of room regardless of what's in my pockets. You can get it for around $25 and it makes for a fun easy project if you want to try your hand at making new scales.

I'm really happy with my Kershaw Leek, OD-1 and (if you can spend a few bucks more) R.A.M.

Same goes for the Buck Vantage Pro (Small) or Vantage Avid (Small). I think the Bucks are a terrific value, as are the Kershaws.

Cold Steel Mini-AK 47 perfect ergos, great grip, waved opening, very sharp, excellent blade shape, strOng lock.

Dude, don't make it an over-arching statement. I've sold dozens of them to buddies and they've all been perfect, blems inclusive. Sorry you seem to still have bad luck with yours.

I think for the Ener-g's, the II is the smaller one, actually. (Odd I know)

+1 That post was the first I'd heard of the RAM having "a lot of minor fit and finish problems".

It wouldn't be that bad but I hate selling knives. And I always include the flaws (even minor ones like this one).

At any rate, my personal experience trumps, for me, the anecdotal evidence by others, and so, for the benefit of the OP, I am obliged to warn him to look his knife over or have someone else do it. But it's still a strong recommendation for the RAM.
