I want to put a set of driving lights on my Expedition. I was thinking of the PIAAs. Any other suggestions?

I had a set of Hella 3000's on my Range Rover that could melt the paint off the trunk of the car parked in front of you. Most powerful long distance lights I have ever used. A few of the off-road sites should have some good info. Good luck. (I wouldn't mind hearing some personal recommendations myself.)

Lightforce HID....pricy but worth it if you want BRIGHT!

I have no reason whatever to doubt that these could be the best lights in the world, but it is just another example of marketing that turns me off to a product. Their pdf brochure on the 240 HID model uses twenty exclamation marks on one page, yet nowhere does it actually quantify their luminance.

The pdf sucks.
Here is a dealers site scroll down for specs.....at $895.00 per light for the HID they are pricy but mighty bright....a friend of mine has them on his F350.
I use the 140 Lance and 240 for varmit hunting.
The beam is adjustable similar to a maglite flash light adjustment.

LIGHTFORCE!!!!!!!!!!! Can't recomend them enough, I went through two sets on my jeeps and loved them, beat the living crap out of them and never had one issue. Did a nose stand in the Jeep, bent the ARB bullbar and fender and frame but the lights didn't glitch. got cut off by a civic and plowed into the rear of him, again, perfect lights. I had the smaller ones both times, the HIDs are insane, wish I could have afforded those.

GOOD GRIEF! Almost 2 grand for a couple of driving lights? For that kind of money I could just hire a 747 to "escort" me. ;) (I guess it's all relative - people laugh at my $2,000 folder.)

Actually, the "240 Blitz" sound good. I might look into those for the Yukon. Anyone have any experience with them? How might they compare to my old Hella's?

I have used both PIAA's and Hella's. I would say they are Mercedes and BMX< both excellent, both high priced, but for some worth it.

My 325 came with after market PIAA's on it and they were very very good although i did not get the best bulb life, was this due to some thing on the car or the lights not sure, but it did eat bulbs about every 18 months.

The later 330 came with Hella, these lasted better but had a different beam shape that I did not care for and I got flashed at more on the freeway from oncoming drivers than I ever did with the PIAA"s Both had mongo throw, enough to drive 100 plus at night with little worry. The Hella's seemed to have a higher cut off, and the PIAA's seemed to have more spot throw, but both were miles ahead of what is current headlight technology.

The 330 also had hella fogs, wide low yellow flame throwers that were the best i have seen on any car for seeing thru falling snow or fog, At the time I was commuting about 40 miles one way across a lot of low farm and swamp areas and morning fog was a constant. the Hella fogs would just open the road, often seeing things 200 to 300 yards down the road that when i would toggle off the fogs would just disappear until i was right on top of them. I am sure they probably saved me one or two accidents and many many hours of creeping along the road time. By keeping the light energy seemingly trapped to the surface of the road, you could see right thru the fog.
