I am looking to get an angle cube to go with my KME. Any input or links would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm willing to bet, most of the angle cubes out on the market come from the same manufacturer. In comparing different 'brands' online, I'd noticed the size, shape and button functions/placement on each of them was identical, with only the decal'd 'skin' on the face being different (color/branding/etc), and perhaps button color as well.

That said, I recently picked mine up at Harbor Freight. They carry 'em.

David is most likely correct that most cubes come from the same factory or at least share the same guts.

But within the cube products, you'll find several levels of features, one of which is precision.

The lowest level I found was iGaging Angle Cube in the $27 range. The DXL360S Digital protractor in the $70 range. Then there's the Dxl360s Gyro in the $175 range.

I suppose you'll have to determine the best level for you in terms of price, features, and complications. I settled on the $70 range given I want features but I don't want the complications associated with having too many features plus I doubt I really get the value and use out of the $175 unit.

I have the angle cube. $25.00 it can be found many places online. well worth it if you do a fair amount of sharpening. but not necessary unless you just want to know the angle.

I have the igaging version, it has served me well for 3 years now. The magnets are very strong and I haven't had to change the battery yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if these were a "binned" product. Basically the factory produces the base circuit board and components, then they are tested for tolerance. The best are sold on the the high end, the rest lower and lower down. A lot of electronics are manufactured and sold this way, from LEDs to CPUs. It makes the overall cost lower since they still get economy of scale over the entire production, instead of on each grade level. I would look at what precision you need and go from there. not much point in buying a unit that measures to two decimal places if its total tolerance is +/- 2deg.

I have the iGaging and I like it very much but like jpm2 suggested, your smartphone might be all you need. For Android phones you could use the free app iHandy level.
