Best angle for Kershaw Leek?

Hi, I am about done repairing my tip and plan to cut a new edge on my leek. The leek uses 440A and has a full hollow grind. Seeing as this is a soft steel with a narrow blade, i dont want anything too weak. I am debating between a 30* (i am fairly sure this is too much for 440a), a double bevel 30/40, 40, and a double bevel 40/50. Lastly, i would consider a 50, but I dont think the 440a is fragile enough to warrant this.

Also, I have a Ka-Bar 5.25 knife that i beat around in the woods. I want a very durable edge, should i go for 50 or a 50/40 bevel? This knife will be abused, but i want it to withstand it fairly well.

Thanks.

I doubt you'd be able to cut much with a 50 degree bevel. That'd be more reserved for chopping and field work.

I'd go with a 30 dgree main bevel, with a 40 degree edge, or just a 40 degree edge. The 30/40 will take longer to first create, but will be easier to maintain between touchups. The 40 will be easier to create, but would take longer to maintain. I wouldn't go with a 30 degree edge, because the Leek has a very thin hollow blade profile. It'd be extremely sharp and cut very well, but not for very long.

I can't answer the KaBar question, since I only use folders for more urban stuff.

i've got my Leeks at a 30/40. for me, it's proven to be the best edge thus far. 30 was too weak for the tougher cuts, and i'd be back on the stones too soon. it will take some time, but that 440A isn't as bad as some can be, when bringing down the shoulders of the bevel.
