I had one like that before, but at a much cheaper price. Mind you it had a wooden handle and the sheath wasn't as good, but I only paid 40$ for mine from Ragnar's Forge. It was pretty good, but a little on the thin side in my opinion.
Now it depends what your budget is and what you're looking for, but given the price of the knife you posted I'd say just go all the way and get a Bark River.
Another brand to look at: Silver Stag's Slab line, while the sheath might not be as good I'd say these are better and cheaper than what you posted (if you shop around). Though if you get it in D2 it'll be hard to sharpen, dunno how good your friend is at sharpening.
