I need an ax, like a Busse grade ax... Know what I mean, the best! I will use it for camping, hunting, choppen logs. You know normal Ax stuff, but other than going to lowes I know nothing about them. Does Busse make one? Not a hatchet..

What say you?

I'm relatively new here compared to some, but Ive looked as well and never heard mention of--or seen a full sized ax... Perhaps Jaxx or some of the other; more cured bacon will show up and be of better assistance...:D

I recommend Gransfors Bruks. Their lower price line is Wetterlings.

I have a Wetterlings Felling Axe (large) and a Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe (medium) & Hatchet (small). Fantastic axes.

...There ya go! Thanks Vox, I'll have to check those out as well...

there will be an ax. . . soon. but you must endure the resistance to give up on busse/swamp

Have you had to worry about breaking the wood handle?

The handles are tough and I have never had a problem.

If you had the misfortune to break a handle you "could" carve a new one in a pinch out of a hardwood branch. :D

Plus 1, I have the gransfor feeling axe and the wetterlings small forest axe and splitting maul.

The waterlines is as god in my opinion as the gransfor line. My advice to you though, your spending a lot on an axe. Try and buy one where you can personally check it out. Check the straightness of the handle, the grain flw and head integrity and finish. People say an axe is a hard use item the finish doesn't matter but for the money your spending ake sure you get the best.

Good luck let us know what you get!

I honestly think an Estwing is the best bang for your buck. It is nothing fancy, but with the steel handle and rubber grip, will be the only one you ever need. It comes respectably sharp and in a leather sheath.

Thanks guys! Their shop is 35 miles from me. I am going to head there monday, Ill post pics of what I buy. I am glad to get to hold them before I buy it.

Look at Council Tool Velvicut series. Made in USA and now with the new Velvicut line, are giving GB a run for their money. Grade A hickory handles and 5160 steel for axe head.
