Well I thought I had the worst, but after hearing about someone getting stabbed with there bali, i must hear more!

My top injury:

Located on my pinky, slice, through my ligaments, half way into the middle of my joint. Emergency surgery, 2 1/2 hours. car broke down on the way home :). Pinky is pretty much fine, except i can bend it alot farther than most people, and it bends back to one position on its own, hard to explain, basically my ligaments grew back tighter than usual so my pinky comes back fast. Bla bla,

whats your worst injury?

Nothing interesting just a few little minor cuts. I haven't had any for a little while now actually.;)

I guess I'm like Chung San. my worst is a minor scar left by one of my first attempts at opening a bali one handed. But lately I have gottne good enough that I dont cut myself.

I have a nice hole in my shin from an ariel technique gone bad.

My worst cut happend about 7-8 years ago (something like that) and was when i was flipping my large brass bali, it has a blade length of 18 cm's/7" and a total lenght of 38 cm's/14.9", i ended up closing it on my right ring finger. No blood at first and then massive bleeding. Long time ago but i still have a fat scar and i can't feel 100% with the tip of my finger.

I've had a lot of cuts, even to my back when flipping balisongs but this is the only one that got me permanent damage.
I really learned that alcohol and balisongs don't mix :(

Had a long post but got booted off.

Anyway, my worst one happened once when I was surfing the forums playing with Ami my 42as and needed to use the mouse. I closed her (or so I thought) and set her down into my lap. I didn't feel any pain or even any pressure as she penetrated my thigh and I started to push. I finally realized what was happening when I heard the sound of my sweat pants being cut open. The gash ended up being almost an inch long and was damnably deep and about 1/4" wide. I should have gotten stitches but since I had just taken some out the day before I didn't even tell my wife about it until it had closed (about a week and a half later).

Also While I was coming over here to post this yesterday I was walking down the dark hall twirling when the cat spooked me and I dropped Ami right into my foot. Quite painful took hours to stop bleeding.

Ok. First day I had my original BM259 Weehawk, back in 1986. Was flipping in my friends living room, when WHAM! I look down, and it is sticking up out of my jeans by itself. Whoa, not just my jeans, but my thigh! Missed my femeral artery though. Still have the scar. Didn't get stitches either. Bled for about 6 hrs.

I got a BM259 from edgefinder on BA...I was doing a arial with a forehand catch when the heavy handles pushed the needle like point of the weehawk 3/8th of an inch into my palm. I instinctually pulled my hand away(although far too late) and splattered blood onto a table next to me. There was that buch blood produced that quickly.

I rarely get cut, but when it happens, I usually apply pressure before I lose even a drop of blood. This time was different, I had to hold a cut above my heart for the first time:p I was really suprised how well it healed...I used superglue

Okay, here's one that will have you rolling...

Jaguar Classic (yeah, I know, what a putz... :P ), about a year ago. I'm sitting cross-legged on the floor, doing some simple stuff, when the things drops out of my hand, and gouges about a quarter-inch diagonally into my right shin. No broken bones, but a bit of bleeding. No stitches, but I poured on the peroxide and held a clean cloth over it for hours. Must have lost a bit of blood, but not enough to require a transfusion. It was about that time that the Jaguar took a one-way trip to the local junkyard. :D

Now, I plan to treat my BM-42 with a bit more caution and respect.

Well I haven't had anything as big as your guys's evil owwwies. I have been pinched about 3 times in one spot once. I also have been stabed in my right hand twice so far from my bm42a.( I was doing arials with tape on the blade)Although I had tape on the blade it must have cute through. The bm42s have a very very pointy point. It barely went in mt hand and only bleed a drop or two both times. So when ever I do my arials I always have tape on it. I can do them without tape but im just afraid I might end up miss fliping.:D

Fliping an old brass handled bali ( I was in between my jag and my 42's) when it got away from me during an airial, so I tried to recover it by grabing an pulling it to my chest/stomach. Not Smart! I cut my left pinky pretty good. Cut along my finger near the tip and off to the side. So of course it produced a flap of meat. A hate that kind of cut! Still have small scar.

PS To defend the balisong as being safe: My worst cut was from a 2.5 inch folding lockback, that did not lock back! Nerve damage to that same pinky! Years befor I got a 42, but I did have a Balisong, should have been using it!

my worst was I think a few days after christmas. I had just gotten my 42, so it was still ludicrously sharp. There I was lying down on the sofa watching TV and flipping. I was going through my normal cycle of moves, then I tried a finger roll-over with the bite handle. you see, whenever I do that my hand is usually parallel to the earth- this time it was vertical. So anyway, the spin was fine, but it was just a tad too low. Suddenly the second joint on my middle finger felt like it breathed for the first time in ages. I kept on flipping for a few seconds, then I looked at my hand. I was like "GOOD LORD!" because basically all of the skin on the knuckle was hanging off. After looking at it for a few seconds, the pores started beading up with blood, which then led to gushing :p. Three hours and three band-aids later, I released pressure. Then there was the question of what to do with the skin.......I forget if I just bit it off and threw it out, or just let it grow back.
Either way, there really isn't a visible scar because it cut right on a wrinkle.

as for my most common and thusly most feared, it'd have to be the "a tad too early horizontal basic". What that is, is that I have my hand at such an angle where the latch handle falls away, but the blade doesn't. My thumb rolls over the blade, and "OW!!!!!!!!!". 'nuff said

I used to get pricked a lot from bad throws, but I think I've got throws down to an art at this point ;)

Any more additions this was very amusing, Gollnick? Anyone?

I hope everyone has healed up fine. I will ask another question like this in a bit, its just interesting to me to hear of other's experiences.

WellI just cut myself doingan ariel which got my stuck in the thumb. Ahh I'm bleeing on the keyboard. Gotta go

I don't think I can top most of those single gash stories. I did send a bm42a drilling into the top of my foot. The cool thing was that it didn't bleed much... until I started walking. Every step on that foot produced a large gush of blood. I still have a beauty scar. Oh wait, I just remembered! I did injure a tendon in my thumb rendering it unusable for about 5 days. I had tossed it locked open from behind my back and it bounced off the web of my thumb. I've got it caught on video too!

My worst "injury" ever was not from a single cut. I have never taped up a blade, and it ended up showing one day when I was determined to get my aerials down. 65 cuts and 5 bruises in one day on one hand. I couldn't put my hand in my pocket for a week :D

Blasto, I'm another non-taper myself. And this past week of trying to get the arials down has been quite a learning (read as painful) experience. But hey it builds character.

Blasto, you're one crazy monkey! :) I don't tape either, but I think I would have taken a break by the 6th ot 7th cut ...

Worst injury so far: My cat was on a freak, ripping around the apt., & knocked my unlatched 42 off the edge of the bed. At first, I thought, "Whew, that was close, but isn't it neat how it's stuck into the floor?" :o

clay was right.i'm some thing of a beginer i worked my way up to a roll over and for some odd reason i put a large hole in my other hand after i fixed my hand i was back to trying the roll over. and yes i did do it right after a while.so clay was right "it does not mater you will cut your self ether way"

Worst cut with a bali would be when I went to remove a new BM 239 from it's box. I picked up the box but the end wasn't completely closed and the knife slid out the box so naturally I went to catch it before it hit the floor. Damn shame it opened just before I wrapped my hand around it, grabbed the balde full force, and we all know how sharp those BM knives are when they come from the factory.
