Hey all, I did a search but most the results were pretty old. I’m wondering what everyone’s finding to be the most cost effective 2X72 belt. It’s been a few years since I ordered and I don’t even remember where I got my last ones, so any suggestions are appreciated!

I’ve found for a single speed grinder like the grizzly that the Norton Blaze Ceramic belts are the most cost effective, I use mainly 36 grit for profiling and 60 for bevel grinding, refining from there I like the trizact gator belts, they last a very very long time, you can get them in quite a few grits depending on the surface finish you want, I find I can go from 60 grit ceramic to the 180 trizact and from there I have started Experimenting with using a scotchbrite wheel that’s a 400 grit. I can attach it to the arbor on the left side of my grinder and go from the belt to the wheel for polishing hollow grinds, you could use it to polish flat grinds as well you just have to blend the blade or you could use scotchbrite belts for a satin finish. Or stick with trizact and go up to a 400-600 grit finish and polish on cork belts or start hand sanding. The important this to keep in mind is blaze belts are made to fracture at lower pressure grinding like post heat treat bevel grinding so you’ll get better life from them than someone like the 3m cubitrons in my experience. Also budget belts like Vsm or combat abrasives belts work fine but I don’t find they last as long and sometimes the edges of the belts aren’t as good as the Norton. I get all of my belts from Pops Knife supplies, they have a ton of really good options and materials and some of the best prices

+1 for Pop's. I get most of my stuff from there, though sometimes I get my belts from TruGrit. I found the VSMs to be pretty good when I had a single speed motor on my grinder. I never had much luck with the blaze belts. Always glazed over and couldn't be brought back.

VSM ceramics also I have found some AO 10 pack on Amazon for a good price in 80 grit that worked very well
