What Billy Can system would you recommend - what is the low end, middle of the road, and high ends of these systems?

Help me out.

I literally pulled this thing out of the mailbox this afternoon, but the size and shape are just what I was looking for. It's the Open Country 2-quart aluminum kettle. It's pretty beefy/sturdy though and the bail 'snaps' into place pretty well. I'm very pleased, especially at ten bucks.

#10 coffeen can, punch two holes for a wilre bail, put into oven and burn off any label glues or linings, remove, coat with oil, bake for two hours until black.

presto billy can, costs about 50 cents of electricty to make.

Mid-priced: Until recently I had an old Sigg 2l aluminum pot that worked great.

Higher-End: I have a Snow Peak 1.4l titanium pot that has performed well for me.

I keep bringing and using coffee cans with coathanger-wire bail.

Cheap? Yup. Leaves me more money for knives :D

Same here. They work well and if I wreck one, no biggie. Another one can easily take its place.

Around here coffee cans are going the way of the dinosaur. I am soooo glad that I have been saving all my empties for years.

I snagged a couple dozen empty three-pounders from the office where I used to work. Can you believe they were going to throw them out! Infidels!

Coffee cans are nice but may become a bit harder to find. While shopping the other day I noticed how few were made of metal. I didn't count all of the brands but only one was in a metal can.

any kind of oil?

Talfruche that is a good link. Looks to be an interesting stove/combo. I'll have to make one if I can find a used thermos. Otherwise it'd be spendy.
