I am new here and not sure if this is allowed.
I love Bowie knives.
Here are my requirements for my ideal knife and would love to know where I can get one or if there is such a thing. It is not a sales idea, it actually is something I want to know if someone else has mastered so I should not waste my time on becoming the expert at creating knives that match the following requirements:
Ladder (other options like raindrop and twisted should be available) Damascus (we can debate the metals and should have options), at a minimum 124 layers, full tang, at least 25% serrated edge on the top of the blade, guard, pummel, and mosaic pins (2) to one of several common designs. The fit and finish needs to be great, including the options for handle material. Finally, the knife needs to be tested to pass a Forged in Fire style toughness and sharpness ordeal.
If there is someone who does this kind of work, I will quit designing an operation that can create these in mass and just buy my actual ideal knife.
