I made the mistake of buying some pants with the brand name Proper. The ink faded real quick. What's a good source of (lol) Gov quality BDUs?

Proper is hit or miss.I have a few pair that have been great, mostly poly blend rip stop and some that wore out quick,100% cotton non rip stop.
I have had the best luck with Galls.

5.11 makes a pretty good bdu.

pros:
-snap and zipper rather than button fly.
-velcro pockets.
-pockets inside the pockets (holds mags, flashlights, notebooks, etc).
-pockets for knee pads (included).
-color lasts well.
-shoe lace type ties at the cuffs, rather than the thin nylon on propers.

cons:
-sizing. i wear a medium, and they are a bit snug. the medium is supposed to fit 31-36, and i'm a 34. they use an elastic waistband insert to accomodate the different sizing. nice concept, but if you're like me and medium sized, the med is a bit small, and the large is too big.
-belt loops. because of the elastic, they are missing a belt loop middle-front on both sides. kind of annoying.

I've been using the True Spec from http://www.vtarmynavy.com. they hold up pretty well. I have one pair that is about 7 years old. The only thing I had to repair is sewing one button back on. Just wore them yesterday.

AVOID Prestige Tactical Wear.

They may not survive the first wearing and washing !

This has been my experience. The cotton ones are falling apart but the poly/cotton are holding up well. Though the cotton ones I have are the 100% ripstop. I hear crye precision is the best on the market.
