Hey guys,
I am about to move to Nicaragua and "toys" are MUCH harder to find! I am going to be having to live behind a gate and need to pick up a supply of "break-apart" keychains so I don't have to keep shutting off the truck to unlock a gate.
What are the best ones out there for usability/quality??

I use a few largish fishing snap swivels w/ small split rings on a regular keychain to separate keys by use: car, house, gadgets :), locks. Works pretty well for me.

are made by the Hansen Coupling Co., a Div. of Tuthill. It is made up of an Female air hose quick disconnect fitting with a Male attachment.
Very heavy duty and STRONG!

Also, NAPA auto part stores sell similar ones but smaller in size.

These two are the best I have seen anywhere and talk about strong!

Keychains is another one of my hobbies for collecting stuff. Hundreds of different keychains I have!

I picked up a very similar arrangement ot the above from the tool department at Home Depot. Interestingly enough, it was not in the key department.

Nimrod====

check this out at Campmor. I have a similar device for my keys and it's worked well:

item 98524-E, Clip Cat. It's a keychain that uses side-release buckles(I can't think of the specific name for them--fastex?) and regular split key rings.

A hearty BFC welcome to Atrick-Pay and BrassKnuckles.:)

BK,
Where would someone go to find one of the Hansens you mention?

bfm--that's exactly what I have!! But I couldn't remember where I found it. Thanks for the heads up.It's a good one.

I have one similar and that partially prompted this post. After only a couple of weeks the webbing began to fray badly from scuffing on the rings. I needed something that would hold up longterm and have picked up an aluminum three way breakapart piece from Ace. I have only carried it a few days so no "real" impressions yet. It is red and blue anodized aluminum and was only $4!

The Clip Cat from Campmor is a very nice keychain. It's very sturdy and dependable. I've been using mine for years and it's as good as new still.

Thank you for the hearty welcome!

The Hansen Coup Keychain can only be purchased through Hansen Coupling Distributors & Dealers. Hansen Coupling Salesman or Distributors of the Hansen Coupling Company sometimes give these out to prospective purchasers too. Purchasing them runs anywhere between 5 to 10 dollars I believe. Maybe a little off on the price though, I have always received mine free of charge. They are well worth the price, best I have ever seen or heard of! I have seen them from time to time on eBay also. I have seen them go as high as 20 bucks or so there! You can check out their web site for dealers & distributors in your area.
Either Check under Hansen Coupling or Tuthill which is the parent company.

There are not any pics there of these keychains, but you can do a search on these sites for dealers that you can purchase them through!

Hope this helped and hope you find them!
